The Tampa Bay Lightning put away the New Jersey Devils for good 3-1 Saturday to advance to Stanley Cup semifinals.

85. Final. 3. 23. 1

The New Jersey Devils avoided getting swept, but ultimately only took one game against the white-hot Tampa Bay Lightning in their quarterfinals series.

Now, the Devils will head home and the Lightning will move on to face either the Boston Bruins or the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

To his credit, New Jersey netminder Cory Schneider played a lot better than the final score suggests — the Lightning’s third and final goal of the game came on a Ryan Callahan empty-netter with only 1.7 seconds left on the clock. This was Callahan’s first game back after missing the last two with an upper-body injury.

In all, Schneider stopped 35 of 37 shots for a 94.6 save percentage. However, he just couldn’t get any help from this Devils team, with Patrick Maroon being the only New Jersey skater able to find the net today — this despite the Devils putting up a whopping five goals in Game 4.

Mikhail Sergachev, Nikita Kucherov and the aforementioned Callahan were the three goal scorers for Tampa Bay in its series-clinching win. The goal was Kucherov’s 27th in his postseason career.

Nineteeen-year-old Sergachev had quite the milestone for his team, becoming the youngest player in Lightning history to score a goal in the playoffs.
