The Nashville Predators look to tie this series up at home against the Winnipeg Jets in Game 2. Here’s how to watch the game.

The Nashville Predators did just about everything possible to win a hockey game, minus the most important thing. They could not get past Connor Hellebuyck. The Winnipeg Jets made the most of their scoring opportunites, netting four goals on only 19 shots. Pekka Rinne has to be much better if the Predators want to beat the Jets in any game this series.

The game was not quite as one-sided as the shots would make it seem, but Nashville still controlled most of this one. They need better goaltending from Pekka Rinne in Game 2, but stopping the high-powered Jets offense is no easy task. Rinne had trouble with this Jets offense all season long, letting in an average of four goals per game in their five meetings. It is hard to stop Mark Scheifele right now, who had two goals in Game 1 and is playing some of the best hockey of his career.

Connor Hellebuyck was fantastic in Game 1. He is showing why he is a Vezina Trophy candidate, as he shut the door on the Preds 47 out of 48 times. While the Jets dominated this game on the scoreboard, they can’t keep playing at a pace where their goaltender sees 50 shots a game. This is a recipe for disaster that we’ve already seen twice in these playoffs (Freddy Andersen and Devan Dubnyk both saw heavy shot totals before having bad games to end their respective series). The Jets have the skill to play with the Preds and they will likely wake up and play better in Game 2. They’re very happy to get a 4-1 win in Game 1 given how the game went.
