The 2018 Kentucky Derby is in the books and Justify is the winner. Watch the greatest two minutes in sports.

The track was sloppy, the rain was pouring, but that wasn’t going to stand in the way for Justify, who won a messy race to take home the king’s share of a $2 million purse, the garland of roses and the title of 2018 Kentucky Derby winner. Justify won and it wasn’t even close — he held a lead or close second the entire race, never far enough behind to get even a speck of mud on his face.

Hall of Fame jockey “Big Money” Mike Smith broke a 136-year streak that said a horse that had never raced as a two-year-old could win the Kentucky Derby and notched his second Derby win as a jockey along the way. Smith was also the jockey of the last Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah, so don’t rule that out for Justify just yet either.

Justify was the sixth straight favorite to win the Derby. He remains undefeated and is the current subject of early Triple Crown hype after winning over what’s been described as one of the strongest Derby fields in years. Good Magic came in second and Audible came in third. Instilled Regard snuck in a fourth place finish after entering the race with odds that, at one point, were 99-1.

Another one of the big stories entering the race as My Boy Jack, who went from 30-1 odds this morning to 6-1 odds at post time, and ultimately finished fifth.

For bettors, the trifecta paid out a respectable $141, but the real money came on the superfecta to the tune of $19,618 thanks to an upset for No. 4. courtesy of Instilled Regard.
