In the wake of a TMZ report, WWE issued a statement saying Hulk Hogan isn’t currently under contract with the promotion.

Hulk Hogan may be on his way to the WWE. TMZ recently reported that one of the members of the Saudi royal family wanted to bring Hogan back at the Greatest Royal Rumble event. There were talks between the two parties, and the same report also stated that WWE does indeed want to bring back Hogan, but it has to be done the right way.

A WWE representative later issued a statement to TMZ on Hogan’s status with the company, claiming that as of this moment, Hogan is still not under contract with the WWE. However, it’s worth noting that in the same statement, Hogan was praised for the speech he gave at the Boys and Girls club of America, which got positive feedback from the audience.

“WWE applauds the work Hulk Hogan is doing with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to turn what was a negative into a positive by helping young people learn from his mistake,” WWE stated (via TMZ). “While he has taken many steps in the right direction since we parted ways, Hogan is not currently under contract to WWE.”

The split between Hogan and the WWE dates back to 2015, when Hogan was fired after a racist tirade was revealed during a sex tape scandal. In the aftermath, WWE has went out of its way not to mention Hogan on its programming.

However, it seems there may be a much more positive dialogue between WWE and Hogan now, especially in light of his recent attempts to atone for his behavior. Hogan was also involved with the Andre the Giant documentary on HBO, which featured top WWE personnel such as Vince McMahon and Triple H.
