The ‘Hamptons 5′ nickname given to the Golden State Warriors’ fiercely scary lineup isn’t exactly receiving rave reviews from NBA fans on Twitter.

Whenever you want to see a large number of people share their ridiculously hilarious opinions on anything sports-related, there’s no better platform than Twitter. As the Western Conference Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets get underway, Twitter has decided to unleash on an interesting topic, to say the least.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr decided to start the ‘Hamptons 5’ lineup in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals, and the Twitterverse is having a field day with it. It seems that the general consensus is that the nickname isn’t very popular among basketball fans.

In case you aren’t familiar with the nickname, here’s where it came from. The members of the original lineup were Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andre Iguodala and Harrison Barnes, and they were initially called the ‘Death Lineup.’ When Kevin Durant joined the Warriors, they were re-nicknamed ‘Hamptons 5’ by columnist Tim Kawakami, because Curry, Thompson, Green and Iguodala went to the Hamptons to recruit Durant to Golden State before the 2016 season.

Now that Kerr decided to start those five in Game 1, Twitter is seeing it as an opportunity to bash the nickname.

And here’s the best one yet. Hold on to your seats…

I will admit, the name ‘Hamptons 5’ doesn’t sound quite as intimidating as the ‘Death Lineup.’ But when you have a starting lineup that features Curry, Durant, Thompson and Green, you don’t really need a scary nickname to strike fear into your opponents. And if the ‘Hamptons 5’ go on to deliver the Bay Area its third NBA championship in four years, I doubt many Warriors fans will care what their nickname is.
