It seems like Karl-Anthony Towns won’t be with the Minnesota Timberwolves for his entire career.

Karl-Anthony Towns is a phenomenal young player. He is a big man uniquely suited for the current trend of the NBA and that is why recent news should be concerning to fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe recently said on his podcast The Lowe Post that Towns and the Wolves are “not in a good place internally.”

Lowe isn’t the type to try and make headlines. He is simply well connected and calls things as he sees them, and that’s what makes this a surprising development. The Timberwolves are ahead of schedule and made the playoffs for the first time since 2004 this season, but there are many experts who won’t be shocked if the talented center gets traded.

“I don’t think Anthony Davis is going anywhere any time soon,” Brian Windhorst said on the podcast. “But Karl Towns…now that might be a different story.”

Towns is an iron man. He has played all 82 games in each of his three NBA regular seasons. To put that in perspective, just keep in mind that is something LeBron James has only done one time during his career. The Timberwolves would have to get back a lot to receive equal value if they even consider trading Towns, and they could probably save themselves tons of money and win more games by mending the relationship.

The reason that Towns is unhappy doesn’t appear clear at the moment. There is talk about Andrew Wiggins being part of the problem, but it definitely isn’t easy to play for Tom Thibodeau either. He may be one of the best coaches in the league, but, he runs his players into the ground. Just ask Derrick Rose.

As you can see above, Towns was recently pictured in a Phoenix Suns jersey, and Zach LaVine posted an edited photo of the center in a Bulls jersey. Towns liked both of the photos. To be fair, all of these guys have known each other since high school. Some of them are even close friends, and so this might be nothing. Booker even played with Towns in college, but he is a smart guy. He must be aware of the signal he’s sending by liking those pictures, and the Timberwolves should take notice and try to fix the situation.
