New Era has something special planned for incoming rookies to wear as they take the stage at the NBA Draft.

On June 21, a new generation of hoops hopefuls will have their night during the NBA Draft — and one of the long-standing traditions of the night is when the kids get to put the team cap on their heads for the first time in their new career.

This season, New Era is looking to step up their game with the draft night snapbacks by adding patches that give an ode to the city and state that each team comes from along with a pin that ostensibly symbolizes the city and franchise ethos.

The Phoenix Suns own this year’s No. 1 overall draft pick, and whoever they select will see patches with the Arizona state flag, team alternate logos, the year the franchise was founded along with a cactus pin on the front of the cap. Check it out.

Some of the lids that stand out the most include Memphis with the “Grit and Grind” pin, Philly with the Liberty Bell pin, Portland with a rose pin, the Lakers with a pair of sunglasses as their pin and Boston with, of course, a clover.

This year’s hats are a huge upgrade over last year’s glossy lux mesh uppers with the micro-suede bills. The look was a bit all over the place compared to this year’s classic material with the patch additions.
