Batted Ball Stats
Scott Schebler – DK $3900, FD $3200
Cincinnati will host the visiting Cardinals, and outfielder, Scott Schebler, will draw an advantageous matchup against a righty. Schebler has been hitting the ball well of late. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 23 feet, his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 9%, over his yearly average. His price jumped is warranted, as he’s homered in three of his last five starts.
Batter Splits
Dustin Fowler – DK $3900, FD $2700
Dustin Fowler is still severely underpriced on FanDuel, as he’s should be batting in the lead off position again tonight. Fowler will draw an enticing matchup, as he faces off against the righty, Jake Junis. Fowler is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .334 wOBA split (.110 better than when facing a lefty) and a .203 ISO split (.203 better than when facing a lefty).
Matt Carpenter – DK $4000, FD$ 3800
If you have the salary cap room tonight, consider third baseman, Matt Carpenter. Carpenter will be on the good side of a lefty vs. righty matchup, against Matt Harvey tonight. Carpenter is much better against right-handed pitching, with a .373 wOBA split (.077 better than when facing a lefty) and a .232 ISO split (.138 better than when facing a lefty). Carpenter hasn’t produced much of late, but his batted ball stats may indicate that positive regression is on its way. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 9 feet, his exit velocity is up 3 MPH, and his hard hit percentage is up 8%, over his yearly average.
Line Movement
Caleb Smith – DK $9100, FD $8000
Miami will host the visiting Padres tonight, in a game in which Miami is a – 132 favorite. The line has remained relatively unfazed through early betting, but the total has fallen a half of a run. The game total opened at 8 runs, and has since dropped to where it sits now, at 7.5 runs. Marlins pitcher, Caleb Smith, will be in play on both sites, but is a tremendous value on FanDuel, at only $8000. Smith didn’t have his best outing against Arizona last week, but should be in a good position to bounce back tonight. San Diego is third in the league in team strikeouts per game, averaging 9.39. They are even more susceptible to strikeouts from left-handed pitching, which should favor Smith. Smith currently holds a K/9 of 10.86, and should offer upside at a reduced price tonight.
