3. 3’s Company (2017 Record: 3-5)

This team was admittedly fairly underwhelming in their inaugural campaign, but they also made one of the key moves of the offseason by adding Baron Davis. Admittedly, it’s been six years since Davis played in the NBA, and that stint with the Knicks didn’t go well, but he’s spent a lot of that time wanting to show he can still ball, and this is the best chance he’s gotten yet. Davis is already a co-captain alongside Drew Gooden, and his fun, improvisational style fits this league perfectly.

Elsewhere, they added former Detroit Piston Jason Maxiell, who is the type of player that this league is essentially made for. He’s forceful, and in in-your-face, and he’ll likely have multiple electric moments this season. By adding Davis and Maxiell, 3’s Company is tapping into the spirit of the BIG3 in a major way, and based on that alone, I’d expect to see them perform much better in their sophomore season. Equally enticing is Andre Emmett, who they took second overall in the draft. Emmett only played 14 games in the NBA, but he put together a solid international career, and was once named MVP of the D-League All-Star game. Emmett’s been looking to prove he can hang with the big boys for his entire career, and this will be his chance. 3’s Company feels like the hungriest team in the league by far, and there’s no reason to think they can’t compete for a title.
