1. @Winnipeg Jets – Thursday, Mar. 14, 7:00 p.m.

You may be wondering how the Winnipeg Jets made the list. There isn’t much of a rivalry or history between these two, they play in separate conferences and the Jets are a pretty likeable team.

The reason this will be one of the top five games to watch in 2018-19 is because it will be the last time the Bruins and Jets meet before their Stanley Cup final matchup. Both of these teams have the chance to be the top teams in their respective conferences and there is a decent chance they will see each other in the final.

Are we getting ahead of ourselves here? Sure. But there is no harm in putting this in writing and being able to throw back to this post when it happens. The Jets were one Marc Andre Fleury away from making the final this season and the Bruins are only getting better.

While these two don’t see each other often, they are two of the most high-powered offenses in the league heading into the 2018-19 season. The Jets boast the next great goal scorer in Patrik Laine, as well as the best player nobody knows about in Mark Scheifele (Thanks, Pierre McGuire).

The Bruins jab back with the best line in hockey (Marchand – Bergeron – Pastrnak) and several of the league’s next stars in Jake DeBrusk, Charlie McAvoy and Ryan Donato.

All-around offensive firepower going against two great defenses and two Vezina-caliber goaltenders. Even if this is completely wrong and the two don’t meet up in the final, this game is still sure to be very exciting.

Next: Each NHL team’s most famous superfan

The Boston Bruins are hungry. They made it far last season but everyone on the team and in the vast fan base knows that it was not the finish they were looking for. This team wants to contend now and they have the pieces in place to do so.

The Bruins schedule will be packed with great games but be sure to circle these five (or seeing as it is 2018, set them in your phone calendar, I guess). Every one of these games has just that little bit of extra to make them some of the most compelling battles of the NHL season.

Enjoy the rest of the offseason. We already can’t wait for October 3.
