The fifth and final season of The Originals continues on Wednesday night with episode 12, “’The Tale of Two Wolves.”

For five seasons, New Orleans has been almost like a main character on The Originals and was a big way for The Originals to separate itself from The Vampire Diaries. But, for the penultimate episode of the series, the show is leaving New Orleans to go to Mystic Falls.

It is all part of the mission to set up Legacies save hope from the Hollow. With Hope’s first full moon around and transformation, she is not given very long to live and Klaus id desperately searching for a way to save her. So, he reaches out to Caroline in the hopes that her daughters are powerful enough to save Hope. After all, they are the last of the Gemini Coven, they can syphon magic and the devil himself wanted their power when they were just three.

That is why Klaus, Hope and Elijah make the trip to Mystic Falls. However, Alaric is not on board with letting Lizzie and Josie, who are just 13, perform such a dangerous spell. And it is up to Caroline and Klaus to convince Alaric that this is the best thing to do to save Hope.

While Klaus tries to get Alaric on board with the plan, Elijah and Hope spend some time exploring Mystic Falls. Of course, a trip to Mystic Falls would not be complete without a stop at the Mystic Grill. And that is where Hope will meet Landon for the first time. Otherwise known as her love interest in Legacies.

By the end of the episode, all of the main players for Legacies will be introduced, as this episode will also mark the first onscreen appearance of teenage Lizzie and Josie. Along the way, the episode is sure to also advance the storyline of The Originals as well.
