Falcons offense pushing them into contention
The Atlanta Falcons are finding their footing, and Julio Jones believes the Falcons receiving corps are what’s spearheading their push for the playoffs.
The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Washington Redskins 38-14, in perhaps their most complete game of the season.
The Falcons, who opened the season 1-3, have reeled off three consecutive victories since their slow start. After the game, Falcons star receiver Julio Jones, who spearheads the Falcons talented offense, believes that the wide receiver group are the “ultimate receiver corps.” Jones, Calvin Ridley, and Mohamed Sanu combined for 17 catches and 237 yards and two touchdowns on the day.
"In Julio Jones’ eyes, the Falcons have the “ultimate receiving corps.”Not only do they all have tremendous speed, great hands and have demonstrated precise route-running ability, they’re physicality is what sets them apart.“That helps us be the ultimate receive corps,” Jones said. “Not shying away from competition. We pride ourselves on being tough, we’re not going to get pushed period around at wide receiver.”"
Perhaps, Jones is right. He’s the Falcons leader this season with 60 catches and 933 yards. An interesting stat, too, was that Jones’ scored his first touchdown catch of the season. If the Falcons are the ultimate receiving corps, Jones is the ultimate leader.
Jones leadership has the Falcons in perfect position to make a legit playoff push. With a 4-4 record, they aren’t out of the playoff hunt yet, and the road to a wild card berth is certainly wide open. If Jones can continue to elevate his play, while Ridley continues his outstanding rookie performance as well, an NFC playoff seed may well belong to the Falcons come January.
