The 2019 college football National Signing Day is almost here. Which teams sit at the top of the recruiting rankings before the day begins?

The 2019 National Signing Day is just ahead of us. Combined with the early signing period back in December, the upcoming National Signing Day officially signifies the end of (most) recruiting drama for this recruiting cycle this offseason.

But, before we actually get to signing day, it’s important to know where everyone stands at the moment. Which teams are currently dominating the recruiting rankings and are ahead of everyone else?

Nobody should really be surprised to see who is at the top right now.

Here’s how the recruiting class rankings look according to 247Sports:

  1. Alabama– It shouldn’t be a shocker that the Alabama Crimson Tide currently have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country. Nick Saban is consistently accumulating the best talent in all of college football. He’s doing it again this season.
  2. Georgia– The Georgia Bulldogs are just behind the Alabama Crimson Tide here. Which, honestly, isn’t much of a surprise either. Kirby Smart is quickly building a program that he hopes can challenge Saban’s dynasty. It remains to be seen if that will actually happen, but f Georgia recruits like this, then there’s certainly a chance that it might.
  3. Texas– The Texas Longhorns are working to cement their status as “back” and recruiting at this sort of level will do just that for the storied program. Fans of the Longhorns are going to be proud of which teams they’re ranked above heading to National Signing Day.
  4. Texas A&M– At No. 4 sits the Texas A&M Aggies. Jimbo Fisher’s first season in Aggieland went pretty well and his coaching staff is doing an excellent job of taking that success and using it in their recruiting efforts.
  5. Oklahoma– Oklahoma is just a couple of spots behind Texas, but the Sooners’ recruiting focus hasn’t been limited to just this recruiting class. Oklahoma is bringing Jalen Hurts to Norman and, believe it or not, that’s not going to show up in these rankings. Sooner fans are probably happy to be bringing in one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country as a transfer and then also having a top five recruiting class.
  6. LSU– Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers currently have the No. 6 recruiting class in the country. That puts LSU at 4th in the SEC and 3rd in the SEC West, but it’s still a very good recruiting ranking. Orgeron will earn any sort of contract extension that might be coming his way if he continues to recruit and win at a high level.
  7. Michigan– Coming in at No. 7 would be the Michigan Wolverines. Jim Harbaugh has the best class in the Big Ten at the moment and it’s completely full with a total of 27 recruits right now. Harbaugh’s class being ranked 7th is a huge improvement from where the Wolverines stood a season ago.
  8. Oregon– After his first full season as head coach in Eugene, Oregon, Mario Cristobal has the best recruiting class in the Pac-12 going into National Signing Day. The Oregon Ducks are trying to get back to being one of the best teams in the country and getting top-10-type recruiting classes will do just that.
  9. Clemson– It’s weird that the team that just won the national championship (by absolutely demolishing Nick Saban and Alabama in front of everyone) isn’t ranked a bit higher in the recruiting rankings, but here Clemson is. The Tigers have a full class right now and 17 players enrolled early. Dabo Swinney is getting everyone together and on campus as soon as he can to get ready to defend Clemson’s national title.
  10. Penn State– Year one without Joe Moorhead as the offensive coordinator was a disappointing one for the Nittany Lions. Still, that hasn’t stopped James Franklin from loading up on talent in hopes of significantly improving going into next season. Penn State is getting as much talent moving its way as possible in hopes of challenging Michigan and Ohio State for the Big Ten now that Urban Meyer is no longer coaching.
