After routing Arkansas in the first round of the SEC Tournament, Florida will look to get off the bubble with a victory over top-seeded LSU.

The bubble is not a friendly place at this time of year, and the only way for teams to get off of it is to put together wins. Florida has been floating on the bubble all year, entering the SEC Tournament on a three-game losing streak before blowing out Arkansas 66-50.

Keyontae Johnson scored a career-high 20 points to help the Gators get a much-needed victory and advance to the quarterfinals. Florida now has a golden opportunity to add a marquee victory to its resume if it can take down LSU.

The Tigers won the SEC’s regular season title, but they are now dealing with a cloud hanging over them in the form of the on-going saga surrounding coach Will Wade. Wade was suspended by the school after being caught up in the FBI’s recruiting probe, and he made headlines this week by saying that he wants to coach the team.

LSU isn’t planning on letting Wade coach unless he talks to university officials about the situation, which has also impacted the eligibility of guard Javonte Smart. Smart, who was the subject of the phone call between Wade and Johnny Dawkins that put LSU in this mess, was held out of the Tigers’ final regular season game and his status for this contest is unclear.

The two teams split a pair of meetings during the regular season with each scoring a road victory. If the Gators can’t make it two out of three against LSU, they could be in for a long wait until Selection Sunday.
