The first half of the first round in the 2019 NCAA Tournament is in the books. Take a look at our updated tournament bracket for a look at who’s still dancing after the first day of March Madness.

After last year’s tournament started like gangbusters with buzzer beaters and massive upsets on the first day of action, this year’s first taste of March Madness was a bit of a letdown. Sure, there were technically upsets with a couple of 10-seeds scoring wins in Florida and Minnesota, but the drama simply wasn’t there.

We did get an epic individual performance out of Murray State’s Ja Morant, who recorded the first triple-double in the NCAA Tournament since Draymond Green, putting up 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 16 assists to help the Racers wallop Marquette 83-64. Another small school star, Wofford’s Fletcher Magee, set the all time record for three pointers in NCAA history in the Terriers’ 84-68 win over Seton Hall.

There was also plenty of chalk today, with 12 of the 16 higher seeds advancing to the Round of 32. Unless you had Marquette or Nevada, which nearly came back from a huge deficit before falling to Florida 70-61, going far your bracket should still be in good shape entering play today.

This day was notable for a lot of near misses as Bradley, Belmont, and New Mexico State all blew tremendous opportunities to secure upsets. Let’s take a look at the full slate of scores from Day 1 of the Madness.
