After a chalky first weekend, the 2019 NCAA Tournament is down to 16 teams, but what are the best potential Final Four matchups we could get still?

Four grueling days of college basketball featuring 48 games has whittled the 2019 NCAA Tournament field down to the Sweet 16. Only 16 teams have a chance to cut down the nets in Minneapolis still. And after the upcoming weekend of action, we’ll have gotten it down to the vaunted Final Four of the 2018-19 season.

To this point in the tournament, the overriding narrative has been that chalk is king. Outside of the 12-seed Oregon Ducks in the South Region and the No. 5 seed Auburn Tigers and the Midwest Region, the highest possible seed that could have advanced to the Sweet 16 did. Yes, hoops fans that love a good Cinderella story in March Madness are left wanting, but what’s left is the teams many deemed the best in the country now left to duke it out for a chance at the title.

From here on out, there should be a number of phenomenal matchups throughout the NCAA Tournament. Auburn vs. North Carolina, Texas Tech vs. Michigan, Duke vs. Virginia Tech and many of the other Sweet 16 matchups in the NCAA Tournament are going to be tremendous amounts of fun that we should all enjoy as fans.

At the same time, for a time of year that’s synonymous with filling out brackets and making predictions, it’s hard — near impossible — to not look ahead at what might be coming down the road. And with things being as chalky as they have been in March Madness to this point, that could mean some potentially high-profile matchups when the Final Four rolls around.

With that in mind, let’s look at the bracket and indeed take a look ahead, eyeing the five best potential Final Four matchups that are still on the table in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
