Zion finally took to the sky and soared for a thunderous two-handed slam against Virginia Tech.

We were all waiting for the Zion Williamson Show to finally appear in Duke’s Sweet 16 matchup with Virginia Tech.

When the Blue Devils needed it most, Zion delivered.

With 10:33 to go in the second half, and with Duke finally gathering momentum after slumbering through the first half, Tre Jones got into the passing lane and chugged up the floor.

Zion was on the right block racing right to the rim, and Jones knew exactly what to do. The lobbed the ball up, and Zion put on his Superman cape and took to the sky. Sailing almost above the rim, it seemed as if Zion was floating on air, waiting for Jones’ lob to get to his hands.

When he got the ball in mid-air, Zion flew both gracefully and forcefully to the basket, throwing down a beautiful two-handed slam that gave Duke a six-point lead, their largest in the game. It looks even better when you see the Zion dunk in slow motion.

There’s a case to be made that this is one of the top five dunks of his college career. More importantly, Zion’s showtime dunk could be what finally gets the Duke engine revved up and running, and God knows those who picked Duke to go all the way was waiting for Zion to provide that show-stopping spark.

Yes, it’s easy to hate on Duke, but it’s impossible to hate on Zion Williamson. He is one of the best players to play in college basketball this century and plays the game with such enthusiasm, it’s easy to root for him. And if that dunk wasn’t impressive enough, this block where he chased down the play and it led to two points on the other end, Zion finds new ways to make you say, “wow.”

With Duke trying to put away the Hokies late, who does Duke go to? Of course, it’s Zion, and he delivered.

Zion and Duke will play on Sunday if they put away the Hokies, so be sure to clear your calendars.
