The axxtion from Axxess continues. Let’s have a look at the April 24, 2019 edition of NXT UK.

Our journey into “very obviously taped weeks ago” territory continues, as NXT UK comes to us once again from WrestleMania Axxess. Remember WrestleMania?

Last week was a completely fine, if unspectacular, edition of the program, and this week may end up being more of the same. Still, the announced matchups have potential, so let’s take a look.

First, there’s Kassius Ohno taking on Ligero. After gloating about how much of an incredibly smart wrestling genius he is, Ohno looked like a big ole dumb-dumb a couple of weeks ago in his loss against Travis Banks. Now — because targeting a younger wrestler blew up in his face — Ohno has his eyes set on the veteran who is actually only two years older than Banks, Ligero.

In an interview, he mocked Ligero’s proclivity for wrestling 300 matches in a year, claiming that Ohno is “quality over quantity.” Presumably, “quality” doesn’t equate to winning the actual matches, as Ohno has lost the only two “quality” matches he’s had so far on NXT UK, but we digress. In a battle between ring veterans who mostly seem to be in NXT UK as credible opponents to put over younger talents, who will prevail? All joking aside, this should be a good one.

Your other announced match is Moustache Mountain taking on Mark Andrews and Flash Morgan Webster. This match is extremely Axxess-core, as it was initially announced two weeks ago. Moustache Mountain gave a backstage interview on the NXT UK episode after WrestleMania weekend saying how they would be flying to New York for WrestleMania weekend to wrestle their friends (Andrews and Webster). It’s a pretty awkward time-shift to swallow, but here we are.

Anyway, Mandrews and The Modfather announced last week that their dream is to become the first-ever Welsh Tag Team Champions in WWE. Wrestling and beating their friends, who also happen to be former NXT Tag Team Champions, could do a lot towards that goal. This too should be a good one.

One other thing of note is that Jordan Devlin does seem to have a WWE United Kingdom Championship match somewhere in his future. Maybe not necessarily in the next few weeks, but certainly eventually. While multiple people were very keen to the idea of one, Devlin appeared last week to state that he could care less about a championship rematch between Pete Dunne and WALTER.

This of course prompted WALTER to walk in, leading to a brief stare down. No words were exchanged, but after staring into the eyes of the champ and into the face of the championship, all Devlin could do was scowl as WALTER walked away from him. Right now, it’s unknown when the Irish Ace might get a title shot, but Vic Joseph did hype up a potential match between the two, so it may just be a matter of time.
