After audio clips were released on Thursday night, the criminal case against Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and his fiancée Crystal Espinal has been reopened.

Less than 24 hours after audio was released of Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill threatening his fiancée and allegations of him punching his three-year-old son and using a belt on him, a criminal case has been reopened.

Charges were initially not filed against the Chiefs receiver due to a lack of evidence, despite the Johnson County prosecutor Steve Howe believing a crime took place.

KCTV released the audio that includes Hill saying his fiancée Crystal Espinal should be terrified of him just as their son is, and she alleged abuse in the home. KCTV reports the recording which is from March was an “insurance policy” for Espinal who is “covering” for Hill.

The audio includes Hill outright denying he broke his son’s arm, which led to the child being removed from the home. Neither parent has custody of the child after an emergency hearing on April 5 when a judge removed the boy from Espinal’s care.

Hill has a no-contact order for his son.

The child is currently living with a family he is familiar with, but are not relatives, according to KCTV.

The Chiefs released a statement on Friday afternoon saying Hill has been suspended from all team activities indefinitely and they will make the right decision regarding their No. 1 receiver.

Regardless of the results of the criminal investigation being reopened, Hill is subject to suspension under the NFL’s personal conduct policy. If the Chiefs decide to cut Hill, he would still be subject to any discipline by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell regardless if another team signs him.

This is Hill’s second chance after he was found guilty of domestic assault dating back to when he was at Oklahoma State. Hill received three years of probation after punched and choking his girlfriend. He was dismissed and finished his college career at West Alabama and was taken in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Hill is coming off a career-year with the Chiefs but his NFL future is in doubt pending this investigation.
