Kansas City Chiefs suspend Tyreek Hill from all team activities

After a disturbing tape involving Tyreek Hill was released on Thursday night, the Kansas City Chiefs have suspended their star receiver.
Tyreek Hill’s football future is in doubt after disturbing audio was released on Thursday in which he is heard threatening his fiancee and discussing incidents of child abuse.
Hill, who was the NFL’s most electric receiver last season, has been suspended by the Kansas City Chiefs as more information is gathered in the fallout of the tape’s release.
Portions of the tape were released ahead of Thursday’s NFL Draft, in which Hill’s fiancee, Crystal Espinal, accuses him of beating their son with a belt. She also accuses him of forcing their son to hold his arms out while Hill punches him in the chest, which was punishment for crying.
Hill is heard on the tape indirectly denying these claims, going as far as to accuse Espinal of doing the same thing.
After the first round of the NFL Draft concluded, the Chiefs announced the team had suspended Hill from all activities. It’s unclear how long the suspension will last, and whether or not a league suspension will follow. Neither the Chiefs nor the NFL had a comment on the matter.
Hill has a history of domestic violence and abuse. He slipped in the 2016 NFL Draft after he was arrested for assaulting a then-pregnant Espinal. The release of this tape comes in the middle of allegations that Hill broke his son’s arm — the same child Espinal was pregnant with when she was assaulted — although Johnson County officials refused to press charges due to a lack of evidence. This was despite the fact that the District Attorney’s office found enough evidence to conclude a crime was committed.
This tape’s release seems to be in response to the failure to pursue charges against Hill.
