Atlanta Falcons new uniforms already need to be fixed, and here’s how
By John Buhler
1. Be the Dallas Cowboys, LSU Tigers and wear the 90s retros regularly
Because the Falcons used wide receiver Calvin Ridley as a prop in the uniform reveal, the Dirty Birds should wear those ’90s throwbacks every single opportunity they can. That’s because they are without question the best uniforms the Falcons have ever had. They symbolize a level of coolness Atlanta professional sports rarely ever has. EVERYBODY loves these black jerseys!
From 1991 to 2002, the Falcons rocked these simple, but magnificent uniforms. The black helmet and black top remind us of Deion Sanders, Jessie Tuggle, Andre Rison, Jamal Anderson, Chris Chandler and early Michael Vick. This is the closest thing the Falcons have to a top-20 jersey in the history of the NFL all time. It’s not a Chargers powder blue or the Raiders’ kits, but these are great.
So what the Falcons should do is treat this throwback jersey like it’s the home whites of the Dallas Cowboys or the LSU Tigers of the SEC. These are the only two high-profile football teams who make wearing white jerseys cool. Because most teams want to wear their colored uniforms at home, “America’s Team” and the Bayou Bengals almost always play in their iconic white jerseys.

Unless the Falcons play a team who also wears black jerseys at home, they should be allowed to wear the black tops all the time. It will help with brand recognition and will showcase to the rest of the football world how incredibly these ’90s throwbacks are. Isn’t that the point of all of this? To get the attention of football fans in a saturated market. By doing this, they’ll have our attention.
