Who did Lawrence replace and who will replace him?
Lawrence replaced Kelly Bryant in the starting lineup for the Sept. 29, 2018 game with Syracuse after throwing four touchdowns in relief in the win vs. Georgia Tech. Bryant left the team later that season and transferred to Missouri. When Lawrence finishes his college career, it’s anticipated D.J. Uiagalelei will step in as his successor. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Uiagalelei has a massive arm — bigger than Lawrence — and should continue the quarterback pipeline humming at Clemson.
Trevor Lawrence draft
Lawrence won’t be eligible to enter the NFL Draft until 2021. He’ll need to be three years removed from his high school graduating class to meet eligibility requirements. He could have been the No. 1 overall pick after his freshman year and is being compared to Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning and John Elway as the best prospect from the quarterback position. Teams are already lining up to “tank for Trevor” in order to get him with the No.1 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Regardless if there is a college football season in 2020, Lawrence will be eligible to declare for the NFL Draft and leave Clemson early. He hasn’t made any comments about the draft but it’s expected he’ll declare for the 2021 draft. He is the next generational talent.
