5-star Georgia signee reportedly suffered a lower leg injury in a motor bike accident

This is the last thing Georgia Bulldogs fans want to be hearing about right now. Last winter, 5-star signee Broderick Jones was one of the most popular recruits in the country and turned down a boatload of other offers to sign with Kirby Smart and his coaching staff.

Even as a true freshman, Jones was expected to compete for immediate playing time in Athens and push for a starting job. Now, that may not be the case for Week 1. According to Dawgs247, Jones recently suffered a lower leg injury in a motor bike accident.

To say the Georgia coaches are concerned right now would be a massive understatement.

The severity of Georgia tackle Broderick Jones’ injury is up in the air at this time

According to Georgia insiders Jake Rowe and Rusty Mansell of Dawgs247, the severity of Jones’ injury is not known at this time. However, Rowe also said it could be as long as a one to two-month deal. If that’s the case, Jones’ status for Week 1 could be in question.

Jones was a massive piece to Georgia’s 2020 class, which of course finished No. 1 in the 247Sports national rankings. The 6-5, 300-pounder was the No. 2 offensive tackle in the country and No. 11 player overall.

He signed with the Bulldogs over additional offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Maryland and several others. Right now, though, the main concern for Smart and the rest of the Georgia coaches is for the talented hoss to get himself 100% healthy as soon as possible and not miss an extended period of time.

Fortunately, it doesn’t look like Jones’ injury is a serious one. We’ll have to wait and see if he misses any games this campaign or not, though.
