Watch Christian McCaffrey get officially inducted into Madden’s ’99 Club’
Christian McCaffrey was brought back into Madden’s ’99 Club’ in an awesome way.
Madden recently revealed the four names exclusive to the ’99 Club’ in this year’s installment of the long-running football simulator. Alongside Patrick Mahomes, Stephon Gilmore and Aaron Donald, Christian McCaffrey was the lone running back to make the list.
To commemorate his spot in the club, Madden released a video showing McCaffrey’s reaction to the news as he met up with a former teammate and friend Barry J. Sanders.
After originally being told he was prepping for a photoshoot, McCaffrey received a surprise visit from Sanders and a package on his doorstep. The industrial crate shared by all club members featured a personalized plaque with McCaffrey’s name and a gold chain with ’99’ embezzled on it.
McCaffrey and Sanders had a fun interaction to wrap the video, with McCaffrey saying, “This counts like two years in a row man, hopefully I don’t mess this up.” Sanders succinctly replies, “Your play will determine that.”
McCaffrey’s play is certainly deserving of a spot in the Madden ’99 Club.’
His play is exactly why McCaffrey is a member of the club. While there is much debate about some of the game’s initial rankings, the 24-year-old running back has delivered back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons while rising to become one of the best backs in the league.
McCaffrey’s 99 rating in Madden 20 made him the youngest man to join the club. By adding nearly 300 yards on the ground and doubling his touchdown total last season, there was no question that rank would remain for the 2021 edition. More of the same will keep McCaffrey in the club for many years to come.
