Tramon Williams confirmed that he is not retired.

Veteran Green Bay Packers cornerback Tramon Williams is still a free agent, which led many to believe that he may be considering retirement. However, the 37-year-old has not retired, although he’s unsure whether he’ll play in 2020.

Williams told Rob Demovsky of ESPN that he has been in contact with the Packers this offseason and that they “would love to have him back.” Although, Williams seemingly has concerns over the NFL’s COVID-19 protocols, or the lack thereof.

The NFL is still yet to release a detailed plan including their COVID-19 protocols for the 2020 season. With training camps starting Tuesday, the NFL will need to act quickly to implement a plan that will take the concerns of the players into consideration.

Williams has been one of the NFL’s most durable players over the course of his career.

Who wouldn’t want to have Tramon Williams on their team next season? Season after season, he has proven himself as one of the league’s most reliable and efficient slot corners. His experience is absolutely unmatched at the position. He’d be a great helping hand for another year with the Packers young secondary.

Williams has played 10 out of his 13 NFL seasons with the Packers. Williams was an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech when he initially signed for the Packers in 2006. Since then, he’s been one of the league’s most durable players. He made the Pro Bowl in 2010 after grabbing six interceptions.

With the preseason on the horizon, the Packers would be extremely smart to give Williams a call prior to the season. If he’s willing to play, you’ll have an extremely solid and versatile cornerback whose experience is unmatched in today’s NFL.
