Richard LeCounte made his biggest fan’s day before a life-changing surgery

LeCounte is far more than just a Preseason All-American and likely first-round NFL Draft prospect. He’s a member of the Athens community, and an ambassador of Dawg Nation.

The incoming senior made a surprise visit to 10-year-old Destiny Maney the night before she was scheduled to undergo open heart surgery. The result was more than just a viral video, but an important confidence boost for a Georgia fan heading into a very intimidating situation.

As Maney’s father stated in the video posted by Georgia football’s official Twitter account, LeCounte’s visit gave the family further assurance heading into an otherwise stressful situation.

LeCounte’s visit had a tremendous impact on the Maney family

“She was so at peace afterwards,” Ashley Maney said of her daughter, per the Savannah Morning News. “It was amazing.”

LeCounte gifted Maney a blanket, which she took into surgery with her the following day. The two also starred in a TikTok dance video to Wiz Khalfia with Ty Dolla $ign’s song ‘Something New’.

The 21-year-old, heading into his final season in Athens, drove to Atlanta with both his parents for the visit to Ebony Children’s Hospital. Per LeCounte’s mother, it was a very rewarding experience.

“It was real humbling,” Erika LeCounte said. “In spite of everything that’s going on in this world, we were able to come together even though we had to be outside and try to be as cautious as we can to make sure they were able to see each other.”

Per LeCounte’s Twitter account, Destiny’s surgery was a success, and she is expected to make a full recovery. As it turns out, a visit from a Georgia Bulldog helped provide some extra belief before Destiny’s big day.
