Tyrann Mathieu destroys Bill Polian for Joe Burrow take
Tyrann Mathieu defends Joe Burrow after Bill Polian’s take.
During the 2019 college football season, LSU quarterback Joe Burrow absolutely set the world on fire, leading the Bayou Bengals all the way to a national championship without losing a single game in the process.
By the end of the 2019 season, Burrow had amassed a ridiculous 5671 passing yards and 60 touchdown passes, which earned him the Heisman trophy.
Burrow was then taken as the No.1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals and has had some of the highest expectations placed upon him of any rookie quarterback in the NFL, given how great he was in college.
Despite Burrow being the future of the franchise, it took the Bengals quite awhile to ink him to a rookie contract, and the team just announced on Tuesday that they signed Burrow to a four-year, $36 million contract.
Although there is a great deal of hype surrounding Burrow, NFL analyst Bill Polian said that he believes Burrow is going to struggle since he missed out on part of training camp due to not being signed. This take did not sit well with Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu, who is a former LSU player as well.
Tyrann Mathieu pointed out Polian’s incorrect predictions about Joe Burrow
Mathieu took to Twitter to express his support for Burrow and also attacked Polian, saying that he labeled Mathieu as someone who is not a leader, and did not deserve a chance in the NFL.
Mathieu then made sure to point out that he has been a captain with each of the three teams he has played with so far during his career. And he also pointed out that he is one of the highest-paid players at his position.
All of these points are pretty clear in refuting the takes that Polian had regarding Mathieu in the past. And despite his issues and people doubting him, Mathieu has become one of the best defensive players in the league.
He then ended his tweet by showing his support for Burrow by saying, “LETS GEAUX JOE” with the “GEAUX” being a reference to the “Geaux Tigers” cheer, which is widely used at LSU.
Regardless of the fact that Polian has been wrong about Mathieu, Burrow has not even taken a snap in the NFL and no one can predict how easily Burrow will transition to the pros, no matter how good he was in college, making Polian’s take pointless.
