The Philadelphia Eagles are working out Cordy Glenn.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ left tackle position went from a position of strength to a glaring weakness from 2019 to 2020, as 2019 first-rounder Andre Dillard was lost for the season with a bicep tear. Howie Roseman appears to have zeroed in on a potential replacement, as veteran Cordy Glenn might be on his way to Philly.

Glenn, who spent last season with the Cincinnati Bengals following a trade away from the Buffalo Bills, is trying out with the Eagles today. Glenn might fill the hole at left tackle, as Jason Peters refusing to move from guard if he doesn’t get a pay raise in addition to the Dillard injury presents a very unique scenario for Philadelphia.

Cordy Glenn is a fine starting left tackle, but he has some injury concerns

Glenn, who was picked in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Georgia, became a rock-solid option over his six-season stint in Orchard Park. He spent the last two years in Cincinnati, where the 345-pounder’s injury problems continued. Glenn hasn’t played in all 16 games since 2015, and he has played just six games in two of the last three seasons.

The Eagles spent the last few weeks working out former rugby player Jordan Mailata at left tackle after unsuccessfully trying to convince Peters to move back to his old tackle position. Adding Glenn seems like a much more prudent option than a guy in Mailata who is painfully raw at this point in his career.

Glenn has some serious injury problems, but Philly potentially getting him fully healed up and motivated to prove doubters wrong could provide them with a better option than Dillard in the short term. With Glenn at left tackle, Philly should be in the contention picture in the NFC East once again.
