College Gameday’s Lee Corso mocked Chris Paul for picking his alma mater to win against Clemson, going with the heavily-favored Tigers over Wake Forest.

Lee Corso shut down Wake Forest alum and College Gameday guest picker Chris Paul with his headgear pick on Saturday, backing the top-ranked Clemson Tigers in their primetime matchup against the Demon Deacons.

After Paul picked his alma mater, Corso mocked the Oklahoma City point guard, saying that he put Wake Forest’s chances at either “slim” or “none.” The legendary analyst then kicked off his annual tradition of donning the mascot head of his game pick, putting on the Clemson head in a vote of confidence for the defending ACC champs.

Fans of college football had to be excited to see Corso revive his tradition, especially with the uncertainty surrounding college football throughout the offseason. The COVID-19 pandemic has already derailed the seasons of two major conferences, and fear of an interrupted or cancelled season still looms.

Even College Gameday looked different, with Corso and Paul both calling in from home. While fans took notice of the change, it certainly did not prevent them from enjoying the return of major college football to screens around the country.

While Paul is standing firm and backing his school, the oddsmakers agree with the rest of the College Gameday crew. The Tigers are 34-point favorites, with Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne expected to light up the scoreboard in their first game back since a national championship loss to Joe Burrow and the LSU Tigers.

Luckily for the Tigers, the team appears to have avoided any major opt-outs, but the same cannot be said for the Demon Deacons, with star wideout Sage Surratt sitting out the season. Clemson and Wake Forest kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET as the Tigers look to start their latest national title campaign the right way.
