Hometown kid Todd Gurley scored his first touchdown as a Falcon

Gurley was a cheap, impact signing for a Falcons team in need of some running back depth after losing Devonta Freeman. While his injury history does put his longevity in question, at just 26 years old he has plenty left to give, and returning home to the Georgia area was an opportunity he couldn’t turn down.

The former Bulldog scores his first touchdown as a Falcon on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

Gurley leapt over the Seahawks defense to find paydirt, and the Falcons hope that’s just the first of many

The Falcons are only a few seasons removed from being a real competitor in the NFC. Having fallen off the face of the Earth since Kyle Shanahan left for San Francisco, the Falcons have never truly recovered from their Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots.

However, their skill position group is among the most talented in the conference, despite losing Austin Hooper. Matt Ryan still has a few good years left in him, and he’s one of the more under-appreciated quarterbacks in football.

With Gurley in tow, scoring points won’t be a problem for the Dirty Birds this season. Defensively, however, they still have some work to do.
