The Falcons need to move on from Dan Quinn sooner than later.

What is the point of Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons staying together?

The head coach and the franchise may have seemed like a match made in heaven at one point, but the honeymoon ended a long time ago (right around the time he blew a 28-3 lead in the Super Bowl), and now there’s only resentment and bitterness.

On Monday Night Football, Quinn’s Falcons suffered their fourth loss of the season. It wasn’t their most embarrassing outing. That title would be reserved for one of the two double-digit leads they blew in the first three games of the season: 20 points to the Dallas Cowboys and 16 points to the Chicago Bears. But it was embarrassing enough.

The Green Bay Packers ultimately prevailed, 30-16. In truth, the Falcons were never in it. They’re just fortunate they didn’t give up more points to Aaron Rodgers and company.

Quinn, who was hired because of his performance as an elite defensive coordinator, has presided over the Falcons conceding 30 or more points in all four losses. His offensive coordinator, Dirk Koetter, has struggled to get the most out of Matt Ryan, Todd Gurley, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley and plenty of other talent.

Is it any wonder Falcons fans are at their wit’s end with the current regime?

Falcons fans want Dan Quinn fired, yesterday

It only takes a quick perusal of Twitter to gauge the feelings of the Atlanta fanbase. They’re done.

Responses vary from embarrassment over the current state of things …

… to pleas for Arthur Blank to pull the plug …

… to hope that things will soon change ….

Fans on Twitter can be irrational, there’s no doubt about that. But in this case, Falcons fans have it right.

Quinn hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2017 and he’s certainly not on track to get the Falcons there this time around. In the process, he’s wasted the best years of Matt Ryan and Julio Jones’ careers.

It’s time to move on.
