Horrible news has come out of Athens, as Kirby Smart announced receiver Tommy Bush was struck by a car in a hit-and-run accident.

As excited as Georgia fans were over the weekend with the big win over the Tennessee Volunteers, some sobering news has arrived to start the week. In a press conference, head coach Kirby Smart announced that wide receiver Tommy Bush is dealing with a concussion.

That’s not the main news, though. Smart added that Bush was actually struck by a car during a hit-and-run accident. While Bush didn’t suffer any serious injuries, there’s definitely still plenty of concern for the 6-5 wideout.

Georgia wide receiver Tommy Bush is recovering from a hit-and-run accident over the weekend

Per UGASports.com, Bush was walking with teammates on Saturday night after the win over the Vols when he was hit by the car while attempting to cross the street. The car then took off, leaving Bush injured on the scene.

“Tommy was in a minor accident and thankfully is healthy and safe,” Smart told reporters. “He has a little bit of a concussion. He’s injured. He has some injuries, but we are thankful Tommy is okay because it was a dangerous situation.”

A dangerous situation no doubt, with the person responsible for hitting Bush still out on the loose. Bush is yet to appear for the Bulldogs in a game this season. He spent most of last year on the sidelines due to a sports hernia.

He’s faced plenty of adversity during his young career with the Bulldogs, with this latest incident only adding to his struggles. It’s an unfortunate situation for everyone involved. For his career, Bush has recorded only one reception for Smart and the Bulldogs.
