Eric Bieniemy has made it clear why the Chiefs have had sustained success.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 5-1 this season and appear to be humming along without any evidence of a Super Bowl hangover. The team should only get better after adding Le’Veon Bell to the backfield.

Bell is an interesting fit because he made it clear he signed with the Chiefs so he could win. He knows he will likely not put up big numbers and that is fine. Eric Bieniemy spoke with the media this week and explained how the team aspect in Kansas City is why the team is so dominant.

Bieniemy breaks it down to caring about “W’s” and “L’s” and nothing more. The players in Kansas City have bought into the idea of the numbers not being important as long as they get a win. That sounds simple enough, but there are countless examples of players caring more about their individual numbers than team success.

running the show on offense makes this philosophy a bit easier to buy into. He spreads the ball around well and makes those around him better.

The Chiefs have built a team that lacks major egos or drama. Other teams try to follow this when talking about “high character” players, however, NFL rosters are big and it is easy for players to get disgruntled if the losses are piling up and their personal numbers are low.
