Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have some problems in disguising their plays

The Baltimore Ravens are off to a 6-2 start in 2020 and the two losses are to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively. So things are seemingly going well.

One noticeable thing with the Ravens this year has been Lamar Jackson not playing up to his MVP level from 2019. He is still only 23 years old and developing, but expectations are sky-high with him. Some of his struggles may be due to a recent revelation about how defenses are calling out plays at the line. Jackson shared this info to Rich Eisen.

Jackson dealing with a major obstacle

This is bad news for the Ravens moving forward if defenses can see what is coming at the line. Jackson and the Ravens coaching staff haven’t been able to adjust on the fly, and the numbers show just that.

The Ravens find success by being a great team on the ground. They rank near the bottom in the NFL in terms of passing yards, but are first in rushing. Opposing defenses knowing a run is coming is bad news if the Ravens are not able to adjust and better disguise their plays. Primarily being a running team makes this inherently more difficult.

Next. All is not well with Lamar Jackson. dark

Baltimore does have a relatively easy schedule for the second half of the season and that should allow for the coaching staff to test out different looks against weaker competition. If not, the Ravens are going to become too predictable and will be at risk of an opening-round playoff loss for the third straight year.
