Josh Allen just couldn’t help himself on the Pat McAfee show.

Allen’s Buffalo Bills are among the best stories of the NFL season down the stretch, as they try to hold off the New England Patriots to secure their first AFC East title in Allen’s lifetime. Yes, it’s been since 1995 that the Bills could declare themselves the best team in the division. The end of Buffalo’s Super Bowl run coincided with the beginning of the Patriots’ dynasty.

The arrival of Allen was met with mixed reviews, and he still struggles with his accuracy at times. But Sean McDermott has embraced Allen’s ability as a runner, making it a focal point of the offense at times this season. Because of this, Allen’s flaws are easier to mask.

With eight wins, the Bills only need to notch a few more victories to secure the division. Of course, were they in the NFC East, that’d be a far easier task.

The NFC East is atrocious, so Allen has a point

The New York Giants currently sit atop the division at a putrid 4-7. Any team that does not qualify for the playoffs will likely receive a top-10 draft pick as a reward. It’s a backwards system, this year and this year only.

The Cowboys and Eagles were originally thought to be favorites for the NFC East, but Dallas lost Dak Prescott for the season early this year, and Philly has been a shell of themselves thanks to Carson Wentz’s poor play. There is no sign of life on either team.

The dark horse in all of this is Ron Rivera’s Washington Football Team. While Washington isn’t a top-tier playoff contender by any means, they’ve at least shown the potential to put a scare in someone.

But for now, Allen, just like many other NFL players on the record thus far, are wondering if it’s too late to change the playoff format to the detriment of the NFC East.
