Every MLB team can make a case for signing Trevor Bauer, even if it is a bit in jest.

Trevor Bauer just won the National League Cy Young Award with the Cincinnati Reds and is now one of the most coveted free agents this MLB offseason.

He is known to be a bit of a wild card so it is possible Bauer ends up in a handful of places. The right-hander has been teasing interest in different cities on Twitter so let’s make a case for every team to sign him.

A case for Bauer on every team

We can break this down in alphabetical order. Buckle in.

Arizona Diamondbacks

The first team on the list is the biggest longshot after the Diamondbacks gave up on Bauer in 2012 one year after drafting him No. 3 overall. Maybe he would want to stick it to the organization?

Atlanta Braves

The Braves need an ace and could get a sure thing after whiffing on Cole Hamels in 2020.

Baltimore Orioles

Bauer signing with the Orioles would be the ultimate troll. The team’s pitch could be best summed up as “why not?”

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox got the budget in order and can get back to their old ways by signing Bauer and hoping Chris Sale can return in 2021.

Chicago White Sox

The front office should make this move just to see the clash between Bauer and Tony La Russa.

Chicago Cubs

Jon Lester is out and the Cubs can pair Bauer with Yu Darvish to remain competitive in 2021.

Cincinnati Reds

The Reds need to retain Bauer if they want to get back to the postseason and make the initial trade for him worth it.

Cleveland Indians

The Indians can get the band back together and try to win it all one more time by signing Bauer and keeping Francisco Lindor. Fans can dream.

Colorado Rockies

The Colorado front office can tell Bauer he can become a legend if he dominates in the notoriously hitter-friendly park.

Detroit Tigers

The Tigers can get the rebuild on a faster track and be a surprise team in 2021.

Houston Astros

From a baseball standpoint, the Astros would be top contenders once again with Bauer in the rotation. From an entertainment perspective, the clash of personalities would be gold.

Kansas City Royals

The Royals can sign the ace and try to make sure this current postseason drought won’t last decades.

Los Angeles Angels

The Angels need to do whatever it takes to avoid wasting Mike Trout’s prime and this would help.

Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers have an unlimited budget and could become even more of a superteam.

Miami Marlins

Miami made the playoffs in 2020 and should try to keep that window open instead of openly tanking once again.

Milwaukee Brewers

A pairing of Corbin Burnes and Bauer would help the Brewers stand out in a competitive NL Central.

Minnesota Twins

The Twins haven’t won a playoff game since 2004. Throw Bauer on the mound three times in October if you must and hope for the best.

New York Yankees

Seeing Gerrit Cole and Bauer try to get along would provide plenty of drama in the Bronx. The front office may just tell them to grow up because that pairing would be the best in the league.

New York Mets

Steve Cohen said he will spend to win and this is a prime opportunity to back up his words.

Oakland Athletics

The A’s can pitch Bauer a one-year deal and avoid wasting another great core of talent that has made the postseason each of the past three years.

Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies are likely to lose J.T. Realmuto. Adding Bauer can prevent fans from staging a mutiny.

Pittsburgh Pirates

The Pirates spending on Bauer would send shockwaves throughout Pittsburgh and would breathe life into the franchise, even though this isn’t going to happen.

San Diego Padres

Bauer can team up with former Indians teammate Mike Clevinger. That would have to be a multi-year deal as Clevinger had Tommy John surgery, so add it to the pitch!

San Francisco Giants

The Giants can backload a deal for Bauer to pay him once Johnny Cueto is off the books. Another opportunity to land the ace on a multi-year deal.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have not been to the postseason since 2001. It’s time to change that.

St. Louis Cardinals

The franchise can usher in a new era now that Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright are likely both gone.

Tampa Bay Rays

This is one team where Bauer may get his dream of regularly pitching on short rest. They may also have an angry Blake Snell on their hands.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers have tried and failed to land top talent as of late. They can stick with the theme of former Indians after a disastrous stint for Corey Kluber in 2020.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are building something special and Bauer can redeem himself after the infamous drone incident in Canada back in 2016.

Washington Nationals

It’s time to chase another World Series and stay relevant after a tough 2020 season.
