With signing day arriving next Wednesday, Kirby Smart and Georgia are battling with Deion Sanders and Jackson State for an underrated wide receiver from Florida.

As soon as it was announced Deion Sanders would take over as head coach at Jackson State, you just knew he would be ready to win some big-time recruiting battles. Could he end up taking down Kirby Smart and Georgia to land a wideout from Florida?

That’s how things are set up right now with wideout Jimmy Horn Jr. down to the Bulldogs and Jackson State. On paper, you’d assume the lure of playing in the SEC for Georgia would make things an easy decision, but Sanders isn’t going to go down without a fight.

Deion Sanders is hoping to win a recruiting battle vs. Georgia

Horn is a bit of a sleeper for the 2021 class, ranked the No. 156 receiver in the country. But after a breakout senior season at Sanford (Fla.) Seminole where he had 834 yards of total offense and 11 touchdowns in 10 games this fall, he’s now a wanted man with a top SEC team in contention with an FCS program.

Smart and Georgia put an offer on the table earlier this month for the 5-foot-9, 160-pound speedster.

A big sell for Horn to go to Jackson State would be he’d be on the receiving end of passes from four-star signal-caller Shadeur Sanders. The son of Sanders decided to join his father, picking JSU over interest from Alabama, Arizona State, Baylor, Florida, South Carolina and Oregon, among others

Meanwhile, for Smart, he’s once again putting together a brilliant class in 2021. This comes after Georgia had the top-ranked group in 2020, marking the second time in three years the Bulldogs finished No. 1.

While Horn isn’t a five-star prospect, both Sanders and Smart will be ready to impress him over the next few days to try and land his commitment. Come next Wednesday, we’ll know for sure who was able to impress Horn the most.
