No SEC football team has done what the 2020 Alabama football offense has done.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had themselves a great Saturday afternoon. They blew out the Arkansas Razorbacks by the score of 52-3 and officially clinched a berth in the College Football Playoff. We expect nothing less from Alabama, but what they did on offense this year was historic.

Following their win over Arkansas, Alabama is officially the first team in SEC history to record five 50-point games in conference play in a season. No team has done that since the conference’s inception in 1933.

Alabama’s offense still powerful even without their star players from the past

You’d expect a team like Alabama, who lost star offensive players such as Tua Tagovailoa, Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs III to this year’s NFL Draft, would suffer a drop-off in production. That wasn’t the case.

Besides Arkansas, Alabama put up 50-plus points against Texas A&M (52), Ole Miss (63), Kentucky (63) and LSU (55). In fact, the lowest point total the Crimson Tide offense has put up this year was 38 points in their season opener against Missouri. From there, the school never put up less than 40 points in a game.

Going back to their contest on Saturday, Alabama did most of their damage on the ground, as quarterback Mac Jones threw for 208 yards, zero touchdowns and zero interceptions on an 82.8 completion percentage. Brian Robinson Jr. rushed for 54 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, while Jase McClellan took six carries for 95 yards and a score.

All-American receiver DeVonta Smith added his first punt return for a touchdown.

If this stat proves anything, it’s that stopping them on offense is no easy feat. The Crimson Tide look to continue lighting up the scoreboard next week, as they face the No. 6 Florida Gators in the SEC Championship Game.
