3 Deshaun Watson trades the Bears could make this offseason

The Chicago Bears made the mistake of selecting Mitchell Trubisky over Deshaun Watson. Now, they can rectify it.
The Houston Texans have a huge problem on their hands, and it involves quarterback Deshaun Watson. After the team hired Nick Caserio to become their next general manager on Tuesday night, Watson immediately responded “some things never change,” via Twitter. It was cryptic, but we received the reasoning behind the tweet.
According to reports, Watson is “extremely unhappy” with the Texans over their hiring process. Watson told owner Cal McNair that he wanted to be involved in the general manager search, while asking him to consider his candidates for the role. Instead, the Texans hired Caserio without involving Watson, who found out about the hiring on Twitter!
This past week, rumors have circulated that Watson could demand a trade off the team. Granted, this was before this latest bombshell report. Even though he just signed a four-year, $156 million contract extension, Watson carries a rather meager $21.6 million cap hit. That’s not that bad, considering.
With that in mind, there’s one team that should be calling Houston, and that’s the Chicago Bears. This is the team that infamously passed over the opportunity to select Watson in the 2017 NFL Draft in favor of Mitchell Trubisky. If the past four seasons have showed us anything, it’s that Watson is easily the superior quarterback of the two.
Here are three trades packages that could help bring Watson to the Windy City.
We’re going to call this one the “Laremy Tunsil Trade, Part II.”
Nick Caserio is inheriting a team that won’t start selecting in the 2021 NFL Draft until the third round. That’s all thanks to former head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien, who flipped a 2020 first-rounder, 2021 first-rounder and 2021 second-rounder to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for left tackle Tunsil and wide receiver Kenny Stills. That has since burned the Texans because if this trade never took place, they would hold the third overall pick in the draft!
Sure, trading away a top-10 quarterback in the league is a difficult choice to make and will anger a fanbase that’s already frustrated following the DeAndre Hopkins trade. But with this trade, they’d essentially get all of their picks back that were sent to the Dolphins. It’s a trade Caserio must consider.
