What John Harbaugh said to Sean McDermott after Bills-Ravens game
Sean McDermott of the Buffalo Bills will be moving on to the AFC Championship. On his way out, John Harbaugh asked him to do something.
Coaches who begin their careers together will always have a special bond. Despite the influx of controversy surrounding the Andy Reid coaching tree, Baltimore Ravens John Harbaugh and Buffalo Bills Sean McDermott are considered some of the best.
Both spent time under Reid’s regime in Philadelphia with the Eagles. Harbaugh, a former special teams coordinator, helped the Ravens take home a Super Bowl victory in 2013. He’s also been a constant in the AFC.
McDermott, who began his coaching time as a defensive assistant, has taken the Bills to three postseason appearances in the past four seasons. In 2020, only Reid’s Kansas City Chiefs were better than the team from western New York.
A 17-3 victory for the Bills will have them moving on to the AFC Championship for the first time since 1993. And if anyone is wondering who Harbaugh will be pulling for, his words to McDermott back the Mafia.
Can the Buffalo Bills win it all this year?
One play in the third quarter ultimately led to the Josh Allen-led squad back to the big showdown in the AFC. Lamar Jackson threw into double coverage and nickel cornerback Taron Johnson was in the right place at the right time. After heading down the sideline, Johnson would return it 101 yards in favor of the home squad.
Johnson’s return would be the longest in NFL’s postseason history since Green Bay Packers’ George Teague in 1993.
Jackson wouldn’t finish out the game to make things interesting. After hitting his head in the end zone, he would be ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion. Former practice squad quarterback Tyler Huntley would be forced to enter the game, finishing 6-of-13 passing for 60 yards.

The Bills will either host the Cleveland Browns or travel to Arrowhead to take on Patrick Mahomes. Both offenses have the power to score early and often when given the chance. However, Buffalo has some magic in 2020 that isn’t slowing down.
More than that, all the Ravens are likely pulling for the upset.
