The Green Bay Packers came up short of the Super Bowl so it’s time for the front office to give Aaron Rodgers some help through free agency to get him another ring.

The Packers’ run to the Super Bowl came up just short with a loss to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship Game.

Aaron Rodgers is the league MVP. Let’s get that out of the way. With a new career-best in touchdowns and one of the better seasons in recent memory, the Green Bay Packers quarterback still is a star.

The only problem there is, one star can’t thrive on his own.

Matt LaFleur is 26-6 as a head coach in two seasons. That’s impressive, but the team has to be in more win-now mode than ever. Cap space will soon deteriorate them and age will also cost the team a few years of success.

Plus, Rodgers isn’t sold on his time left with the team. Could retirement be closer than what he expected?

The Packers are trying to win before turning over a new leaf in the franchise’s history. These three moves will likely help them find a path to a Lombardi Trophy.

3 free agents the Packers should sign this offseason

31. Scouting Report. DL. New York Giants. Pick Analysis. Dalvin Tomlinson. 3. player

Pass rush in the trenches will be a need this offseason for Green Bay. Kenny Clark is a standout on the defensive line, but there’s little help opposite him. ZaDarius Smith and Preston Smith have thrived the last season playing off his edge, but the other one is almost left in the dust when asked to take on pass protectors.

What will the Packers do at the draft? They’ll have holes on both sides of the ball. The problem with addressing the defensive line this early is the level of talent that will be available. Green Bay is picking 27th or 28th no matter what happens to the remaining teams.

Dalvin Tomlinson will be a hot commodity this offseason for teams on 3-4 fronts. Easily one of the best run-stoppers in the NFL, the fourth-year pro is a perfect pairing with Clark as the team’s nose tackle. Albeit, there are some concerns with his pass-rushing, the Packers’ run defense allowed an average of 4.5 yards per play.

Pricing will be important for Brian Gutekunst this offseason. Should they be able to bring Tomlinson in for under $13 million a season, this would be a fantastic move. Green Bay inquired about him as a rental during this year’s trade deadline. Might as well make the move permanent.
