Kansas City Chiefs right tackle Mitchell Schwartz took to Instagram to deliver a passionate message to fans.

The 2020 season just wasn’t what starting Kansas City Chiefs right tackle Mitchell Schwartz was hoping for. In addition to Kansas City losing to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl, Schwartz missed most of the campaign due to a back injury.

There was a slither of hope leading up to the big game that Schwartz would be able to return, but he just couldn’t get himself right in time. On Tuesday, the massive lineman took to social media to deliver a passionate message to fans regarding his recovery.

Schwartz last suited up for Kansas City in its Week 6 victory over the Buffalo Bills. He then was placed on Injured Reserve, unable to return to action after that.

For the Chiefs, not only were they missing Schwartz at right tackle, but star left tackle Eric Fisher went down with a torn Achilles in the AFC Championship Game against Buffalo.

In the Super Bowl, not having Schwartz and Fisher on the field proved to be a nightmare for Kansas City, as the Tampa Bay defense had a field day flying into the backfield and putting pressure on Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes was running for his life on multiple occasions.

Looking forward, Schwartz is focused on getting himself back to 100 percent as soon as possible. Kansas City will undoubtedly need him back in the trenches in 2021 if they want a shot at getting back to the Super Bowl, along with Fisher. With Mahomes set to have surgery this week too, it’s looking like it’s going to be a busy offseason for the Chiefs in getting themselves healthy again.
