Steelers: Mike Tomlin and coaching staff sent home after COVID-19 scare at team facility

There was a scary situation at the Steelers team facility, as Mike Tomlin and others were sent home due to positive COVID-19 tests.

The offseason may have just started for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the coaching staff is wasting no time getting back to work to prepare for the next campaign. Unfortunately for Tomlin, though, he faced quite the scare this week.

Per a report, Tomlin and several others on his staff were sent home from the team facility due to several positive COVID-19 tests. Obviously, this was a bit of a scary situation and the hope is that Tomlin and the others evacuated haven’t also picked up the virus.

This indeed was a rough situation for the Steelers head coach, but it’s great news that those inside the team building were immediately removed from the premises after the positive coronavirus tests came to light.

Now, we’ll have to wait and see if Tomlin and the others were exposed. The hope is that the measures taken by having everyone leave the team facility will prevent others from testing positive as well.

For Tomlin, he’s no doubt motivated for the 2021 campaign after the Steelers suffered a shocking defeat to Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round of the 2020 AFC postseason.

Looking ahead to next year, the team has hopes of getting back to the Super Bowl, and the organization could make a monster splash by landing J.J. Watt this offseason. Imagine adding the future Hall-of-Fame defensive end to this stacked defense?

While the thought of that is great, the No. 1 priority for Pittsburgh is on Tomlin and the other coaches’ health after this COVID scare. Fans will surely hope for the best news possible.
