Miami football fans ought to be excited about this injury update on quarterback D’Eriq King as spring approaches.

Miami opens their season against Alabama and it’s expected D’Eriq King will be recovered from his ACL tear to start for the Hurricanes.

King tore his ACL in the Canes’ Cheez-It Bowl loss to Oklahoma State in December and there was considerable doubt about whether he’d be ready for the start of the 2021 season. But King has attacked his rehab and cleared every medical checkpoint and is expected to be ready for the start of the season.

Miami finished 8-3 and third in the ACC behind Clemson and Notre Dame last season. The Canes were led by the Houston transfer quarterback who replaced their former two-year starter N’Kosi Perry, who has recently entered the transfer portal.

King was Mr. Everything for the Canes completing 64.1 percent of his passes for 2,686 yards and 23 touchdowns while rushing for 538 yards on 130 carries and four touchdowns.

Canes receiver Mike Harley was also able to give some insight into how King is responding to the setback. Harley says the quarterback is in good spirits and also confirmed that he’s ready to go.” High, like he’s ready,” Harley said. “Like he can play right now. That’s how he is right now. He’s ready.”

Miami opens its season on Sept. 4 against Alabama in Atlanta, Ga. As of right now, Miami fans can expect for King to lead them into battle.
