Defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau is yet to announce his college commitment, but the 5-star prospect is looking strongly at a handful of schools.

Where will 5-star defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau end up sending in his National Letter of Intent? That’s the question college football recruiting fans have been asking themselves for months now. While it’s looked like Ohio State has been in the driver’s seat to land his verbal, not so fast.

According to 247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman, while he thinks Ohio State is still in the lead to land the stud recruit, he added that Alabama continues to gain some traction here.

Alabama could be catching up to Ohio State in the race to land 5-star prospect J.T. Tuimoloau

“The Tide have been building a ton of momentum with Tuimoloau,” Huffman wrote this week. “Having had him on campus was a bonus, but Alabama has been able to stay involved because of Saban’s track record of developing NFL talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

“We anticipate the Crimson Tide will be in this one until the very end with Tuimoloau and wouldn’t be shocked at all if he ended up in Tuscaloosa.”

While that’s clearly some encouraging news for Nick Saban and his coaches, Ohio State is still no doubt the team to beat here. They’ve been favored to sign the Washington native for a while now. A standout for Eastside Catholic High in Sammamish (just outside of Seattle), Tuimoloau is ranked the No. 3 prospect in the country, the No. 2 strong-side defensive end and the No. 1 player from Washington for ’21 per the 247Sports Composite.

Throughout his recruitment, he’s picked up more than 20 offers, but appears to be down to only a handful of schools. Where will he end up playing his college ball? Saban, Ryan Day and countless others out there can’t wait to find out.
