The University of Kansas, Les Miles have parted ways following LSU controversy.

The University of Kansas has announced it has mutually parted ways with Les Miles following the controversy which drew cries from students for his immediate removal.

“I am extremely disappointed for our university, fans and everyone involved with our football program,” Director of Athletics Jeff Long said in a release. “There is a lot of young talent on this football team, and I have no doubt we will identify the right individual to lead this program. We will begin the search for a new head coach immediately with an outside firm to assist in this process. We need to win football games, and that is exactly what we’re going to do.”

News broke earlier this week by USAToday stating that during his time as a football coach at LSU, Miles acted inappropriately, including kissing a female student. The report states that Miles invited female students to his home, texted them from a burner phone, and used others to help recruit players.

Les Miles denies kissing a student

An investigation took place in 2013 but was kept quiet until now.

“We’re thrilled this important document has been released,” said Scott Sternberg, attorney for USA TODAY. “We think the Judge’s redactions were judicious and appropriately reveal to the concerned public how LSU handled these allegations against Louisiana’s most famous name and highest-paid state employee.”

The news of his departure from The University of Kansas comes hours after students protested on the LSU campus.

“This is certainly a difficult day for me and for my family,” Miles said in a statement (h/t KU Athletics). I love this university and the young men in our football program. I have truly enjoyed being the head coach at KU and know that it is in a better place now than when I arrived. To our student-athletes, I want you to remember that you came to play for KU and earn a degree here. So, I implore you to stay and build on what we started and do all of the things we talked about doing together. There is a bright future for all of you and for KU Football.”
