With Evan Stewart decommitting from the Texas football program, top Alabama football recruit Ty Simpson is hoping he will join him in Tuscaloosa.

Ty Simpson is doing his part to get Evan Stewart onto the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

Stewart decommitted from the Texas football program on Thursday with a heartfelt message posted on Twitter. He had been looking at the Alabama football team prior to linking up with the Longhorns over a month ago. With his recruitment back open, Simpson is hoping he can get him to Tuscaloosa. Stewart would be on the receiving end of Simpson’s passes in Alabama uniform.

“I would like to first say thank you to the staff at the University of Texas for believing in my talents and abilities, and giving me the opportunity to come and play and be a part of their amazing program,” wrote Stewart.

“When I committed a month ago, I was for sure that it was the place that I wanted to be and fulfill my dream of playing college football on one of the biggest stages. With consideration of multiple things and time of thinking. . .I will be decommitting from the University of Texas and making my recruitment back 100 percent open.”

“Being a top recruit in the nation is a blessing but I’m not a regular recruit. I have been on no visits and (haven’t) seen nor even met any colleges coaches and will wait out until this dead period is over and lifted and we are able to see and visit campuses again. I would like to explore all my options thoroughly and take it slow and do it the right way. Thank you, Hook ‘Em Nation for your support.”

Evan Stewart can be another top-40 prospect joining the Alabama football team

Simpson committed to Alabama weeks ago. He is the No. 2 player from Tennessee, the No. 3 pro-style passer in the country and the No. 27 overall recruit in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Stewart is the No. 5 wide receiver in the country, the No. 8 player from Texas and the No. 40 overall player in the 2022 recruiting class. Look for them to star together at Alabama.

Stewart has 35 official offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma and Texas. What makes Alabama such an intriguing potential landing spot for Stewart is that his primary recruiter to the Crimson Tide in cornerbacks coach Jay Valai used to work at Texas. 2021 is Valai’s first year serving on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama. Perhaps he can get Stewart to Tuscaloosa anyway?

With Stewart decommitting from Texas, he stands a very good chance to end up at Alabama.
