When you are getting ready to fill out your brackets, there are five teams that we’d surely recommend for you to go on a deep run: Gonzaga, Illinois, Ohio State, Texas and Alabama.

These NCAA basketball teams won’t bust your March Madness bracket

Starting off with Gonzaga, the team from Spokane is the No. 1 overall seed and enters the tournament with its perfect 26-0 record. Head coach Mark Few once again has the Bulldogs in a prime position to make noise, with the squad hoping to make it back to the title game for the first time since 2017. That year, they suffered a heartbreaking defeat to North Carolina.

As for Illinois, the team also holds a No. 1 seed and will enter the tournament with plenty of confidence after taking down Ohio State in the Big Ten title game. That contest was an absolute thriller, with Illinois edging out the Buckeyes 91-88 in overtime.

Speaking of Ohio State, the Buckeyes are a No. 2 seed, the program’s highest seed since the 2013 tourney. The Buckeyes will be fired up to make a name for themselves from the start, and they’ll no question use the close loss to Illinois in the Big Ten title game as motivation.

Over in Texas, the Longhorns are riding high after winning the school’s first-ever Big 12 tournament championship. This weekend, Texas stunned No. 12 Oklahoma State for quite the upset. They hold a No. 3 seed for the tournament and will be poised to record even more upsets. Texas has won seven of its last eight games.

Last but not least, Alabama continues to prove that it’s not just a football school. The Crimson Tide hold a No. 2 seed after winning the SEC regular-season title and following that up with a tournament championship as well. Alabama has really impressed this year, going 23-6 overall and 16-2 in conference play.
