Updated March Madness bracket after Round of 64: Upsets bust brackets

The first round of March Madness is complete and the updated NCAA Tournament bracket sets up the matchups for the Round of 32.

The return of March Madness has been a joyous occasion for college basketball fans, who got to experience all the fun of the NCAA Tournament’s first round over the past two days. 31 of the 32 scheduled games ended up being played, with the lone exception being Oregon advancing in a no-contest scenario due to positive COVID tests within the VCU program.

There wasn’t a true buzzer-beater in the first round but there were some dramatic upsets, including 15-seed Oral Roberts stunning Ohio State, 13-seed North Texas beating Purdue, 13-seed Ohio knocking off the reigning national champion Virginia Cavaliers and 14-seed Abilene Christian upsetting Texas. After all the dust has settled, here’s a look at the updated NCAA Tournament bracket.

Chances are your March Madness bracket is already busted

The Round of 32 is set to begin on Sunday with action in the South and Midwest Regions, including some tremendous matchups between Illinois and Loyola-Chicago as well as Baylor taking on Wisconsin. Other highlights of the Sunday slate include Cade Cunningham leading Oklahoma State into a showdown with 12-seed Oregon State along with an offense-defense battle between Arkansas and Texas Tech.

Second-round action continues on Monday with matchups from the West and East regions. The most intriguing game of the day features Michigan and LSU, with the top-seeded Wolverines trying to advance past a dangerous Tigers team without Isaiah Livers.

Ohio will also get a chance to continue its Cinderella run by knocking off Creighton while the Pac-12 will look to build off a strong start to the tournament with Oregon (against Iowa), USC (facing Kansas), Colorado (facing Florida State) and UCLA (taking on upstart Abilene Christian) trying to punch tickets to the Sweet 16.
