What’s the biggest comeback in National Championship game history?
Gonzaga would make history with a comeback win over Baylor in Monday’s National Championship.
Gonzaga got off to a nightmare start Monday against Baylor in the National Championship. An early 29-10 deficit was not what Bulldogs fans had in mind after Saturday’s magic.
The good news is there is still time to launch a comeback. Doing so would also make National Championship history as the biggest comeback in the history of the event.
Gonzaga looking to make history in the National Championship
We have to go all the way back to 1963 for such a monumental comeback. Loyola-Chicago pulled off the impossible back before Sister Jean was the team’s good luck charm.
The magic happened against Cincinnati back when the National Championship wasn’t played in a massive football stadium. The atmosphere had to be absolutely electric.
Gonzaga is going to basically need a full reset coming out of the locker room in the second half. Defense has been nonexistent and they are clearly struggling with Baylor’s size. UCLA clearly exposed the Bulldogs as not being infallible.
Can Gonzaga pull off the comeback?
They are in the game for a reason and slowly chipping away at Baylor’s lead can turn this Bulldogs team into a group of legends. they trail by 10 at halftime. Topping the buzzer-beater from Saturday would be the perfect way to cap off this chaotic NCAA Tournament and season in general.
